In\u00a0the Inter-Enterprise Founding Committee and later in\u00a0the Regional Board of the Solidarity Trade Union of Wielkopolska, he\u00a0was a\u00a0journalist and the editor-in-chief of the\u00a0<em>Wiadomo\u015bci Dnia<\/em>\u00a0daily and the\u00a0<em>Obserwator Wielkopolski<\/em>\u00a0weekly, as\u00a0well as\u00a0the head of the information department. He\u00a0was arrested by\u00a0ZOMO (Motorized Reserves of the Citizens&#8217; Militia) on\u00a013th December 1981 in\u00a0the Grand Hotel in\u00a0Sopot and subsequently interned until July 1982. He\u00a0emigrated to\u00a0Sweden, where he\u00a0was the chairman of the Swedish Solidarity Support Committee in\u00a0Lund from 1985 to\u00a01990. In\u00a01993, he\u00a0returned to\u00a0Poland. From 1999 to\u00a02006, he\u00a0was the president of Presspublica sp. z\u00a0o.o., the publisher of the\u00a0<em>Rzeczpospolita\u00a0<\/em>newspaper. From 2004 to\u00a02006, he\u00a0was the editor-in-chief of\u00a0<em>Rzeczpospolita<\/em>. From 2008 to\u00a02016, he\u00a0was the director of the Book Institute in\u00a0Cracow. In\u00a02019, he\u00a0published the book\u00a0<em>Lw\u00f3w. Kres iluzji. Opowie\u015b\u0107 o\u00a0pogromie listopadowym 1918<\/em>. He\u00a0is a\u00a0member of the Polish PEN Club.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">pic.
